Fatigue and brain fog
Fatigue and brain fog. When "normal blood work" does not match how you feel.
Fatigue is the most common presenting complaint in primary care and one of the least investigated. Standard blood work checks haemoglobin, thyroid, and blood sugar. If those are normal, the conversation often ends with "get more sleep."
The metabolic spectrum reads fatigue through mitochondrial function, iron studies beyond haemoglobin (ferritin, transferrin saturation, TIBC), B12 and folate at functional thresholds (not just reference ranges), adrenal output, gut permeability affecting nutrient absorption, and the inflammatory markers that standard panels do not include.
Brain fog is not a psychological complaint. It is a metabolic one. When the brain is not receiving the right fuel, the right oxygen delivery, or is operating under chronic low-grade inflammation, cognition drops. We read the metabolic environment that the brain is working inside and build the framework to change it.
The spectrum does not wait for a diagnosis.
If you recognise yourself in any of these conditions, or in the spaces between them, the Metabolic Questionnaire is a good starting point. It is not a diagnosis. It is a structured way to map your symptoms and history so that the right conversation can follow.
